UPI payments
Learn about UPI, a common payment method in India.
Caution
UPI support is currently in beta. Reach out to Stripe support if you’d like to enable it for your account.
UPI is a real-time payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India. The service works by instantly transferring funds between two bank accounts. To pay with UPI, customers scan a QR code in their preferred digital wallet or banking app, before authenticating and completing the payment.
Get started
You don’t have to integrate UPI and other payment methods individually. If you use our front-end products, Stripe automatically determines the most relevant payment methods to display. Go to the Stripe Dashboard and enable UPI. To get started with one of our hosted UIs, follow a quickstart:
Other payment products
The following Stripe products also let you add UPI from the Dashboard:
Disputes
Disputes are permitted in certain select situations. Buyers can raise disputes with their banks and must provide evidence of their issue, such as fraud or account takeover.
For UPI, you can’t challenge buyer-initiated disputes. If Stripe is notified that our partner has accepted a request to return customer funds, Stripe might remove the funds from your account.
Refunds
You can refund UPI payments up to 180 days after the original payment date and view the refund reflected in your account within a few minutes.
Transaction limits
The amount for a single UPI must be at least 1 USD and no more than 1,150 USD. The buyer can’t make over 100K INR worth of transactions in a rolling 24 hour period.
